Retro Black Temple

Last night I logged on pretty late just to do the cooking daily and noticed some people were in BT. I asked if I could come along and got a raid invite. So off I popped and joined the other FIFTEEN people in Illidan's home.

OK, OK, most of them were level 80s!!

So in I go and hand in the quest to kill Illidan that has been sat in my quest log since before wrath. I had forgotten to hand it in after we killed him and didn't realise till after the raid reset; the guild never went back to BT. As you have to kill some trash to get to the teleport dude I was unable to get to the quest giver on my own, but now I have the upgraded medallion of karabor.

I nearly didn't as I was just going to fly off to BT, but I checked my bank and grabbed the medallion before I set off.

Once, that was out of the way we went and killed Reliquary, Bloodboil and Shiraz with 16 people. Then had a couple of wipes on the Council because we didn't have enough interrupts.

Oh well, we had fun and I'm nearly exalted with Ashtongue now and I got a nice tanking trinket with a roll of 100 and a healing necklace to replace my PvP Guardians one with a roll of 26 :)

OMG - They Killed Bolvar!

I can't believe it. At the end of the wrathgate chain of quests you get "Veteran of Wrathgate" achievement, although you have't really done much. As soon as you get it you are thrown into a cut scene which culminates in Bolvar Fordragon getting killed ... aww ... it made me sad.

Bugger

The 150 gold recipes didn't sell, and to make matters worse some retard has put a recipe up for 47 gold!! Grrr, I will have to await that expiring or selling before putting my 100 gold auctions up.

100 Gold for a Cooking Recipe?

Surely the price of these cannot go any higher? I'm going to put some up for 150 gold now. I suspect that breeching the 100 gold mark might put people off and I'll have to settle or 99gold 99silver for a recipe that cost me 1gold 5silver (I think).

Oh well a 9900% profit will have to do :P

Wednesday 14 January 2009

Err.. WTH???

Jeez, there are lazy people out there. How far will this go?

Expensive Cooking Recipe

In patch 2.4 Blizz added 2 recipes to help bridge the gap between cooking level 250 and 285. Juicy Bear Burger and Charred Wolf Kabob from Malygen at Talonbranch Glade (or Bale in Bloodvenom Post if you're horde).

These recipes are quite out of the way and cost just over 1 gold depending on your rep.

Well, I usually buy a couple of extra recipes from these kind of vendors and sell them on the auction house for a neat little profit.

I put one of each up for 19gold 99 Silver and they both sold, then I put one of each up for 29gold 99 silver and they sold.

Wondering how far we can take this I put one of each up for 39gold 99silver...

I Don't Like Feeeesh!!!

Sub-title: Alliance Cooking Guide (1-450)

Completion: 66%

I don't like fishing. FULL STOP. I have levelled it on one character and it was a bloody nightmare. I am trying to level all the professions to max on all my characters but I .. WILL .. NOT .. LEVEL .. FISHING .. EVER .. AGAIN!!!

So with that in mind, and having already levelled up to 350 on 2 alts, as well into the 400s on HolyWarrior I thought I'd record the most efficient way to level cooking without fishing. This is efficient in mats (using orange recipes wherever possible), but not neccesarily efficient in time or gold; although I'll do my best. So, without further ado...

First off we'll get most of the recipe collecting and travelling out of the way

Buy all the recipes from Kendor Kabonka upstairs in The Pig and Whistle Tavern, in the Old Town district of Stormwind. He generally sells all cooking recipes that can be obtained from quests (except the Silithus one).

Go to Southshore and do Alliance quest Costly Menace from Darren Malvew and Soothing Turtle Bisque from Chef Jessen in Southshore.

Go to Theramore Isle and speak to Helenia Olden.
Buy Recipe: Mystery Stew
Buy Recipe: Dragonbreath Chilli (optional)

Go to Feathermoon Stronghold and speak to Vivianna.
Buy Recipe: Hot Wolf Ribs
Kill: Wolves for Red Wolf Meat????

Go to Desolace and speak to ???
Buy Recipe: Heavy Kodo Stew
Kill: Kodos

Fly to Ashenvale and travel to Silverwing Refuge to speak to Shandria
Buy Recipe: Big Bear Steak
Buy Recipe: Lean Venison
Buy: Expert Cookbook
Kill: Bears and Stags.

Go to Talonbranch Glade in Felwood and speak to Malygen.
Buy Recipe: Juicy Bear Burger
Buy Recipe: Charred Wolf Kabob
Kill: Bears for Bear Flank

past 300 ...blah blah blah

Secondly we'll collect all the materials we'll need, these are as follows:

45 Simple Flour
60 Mild Spices
10 Chunk of Boar Meat
5 Stringy Wolf Meat
40 Clam Meat
40 Refreshing Spring Water
10 Bear Meat
10 Boar Intestines
10 Spider Ichor
10 Boar Ribs
40 Big Bear Meat
70 Hot Spices
10 Tender Crocolisk Meat
5 Tangy Clam Meat
5 Raptor Eggs
40 Lion Meat
55 Soothing Spices (+1 for turtle quest)
15 Turtle Meat
10 Red Wolf Meat (or 10 Mystery Meat and 10 Skin of Dwarven Stout)
20 White Spider Meat
20 Alterac Swiss
10 Zesty Clam Meat
12 Giant Egss
25 Tender Wolf Meat (or 50 Zesty Clam Meat, 25 Hot Spices and 25 Ice Cold Milk)
40 Bear Flank
15 Sandworm Meat

So, what do we do...

Go train Apprentice Cooking in your nearest available capital city.

1-35 make Spice Bread until it goes green. Sod Mat-efficiency! (We'll assume it takes 45 lots of mats to get 35 skill points). (trainable)

35-45 Roasted Boar Meat or Charred Wolf Meat. (We'll assume Boar Meat here). (These are trainable)

45-50 Spiced Wolf Meat (trainable).

Train Journeyman Cooking.

50-90 Boiled Clams (trainable).

90-100 Blood Sausage (recipe).

100-110 Dry Pork Ribs (trainable).

110-125 Big Bear Steak (recipe).

Train Expert Cooking from Expert Cookbook.
125-150 More Big Bear Steaks or Lean Venison.

150-160 Crocolisk Grumbo (recipe).

160-165 Goblin Deviled Clams (trainable).

165-170 Curiously Tasty Omelet (recipe).

170-190 Tasty Lion Steak (quest reward recipe).

190-205 Soothing Turtle Bisque. (Stays orange to 215 but you probably have red wolf meat to get rid of!). (quest reward recipe).

205-215 Mystery Stew or Hot Wolf Ribs.

215-225 Things get a bit difficult here mats wise, you can choose between Spider Sausage(trained), Dragonbreath Chilli (sold by Helenia in Theramore) or Heavy Kodo Stew (sold in Desolace). I'd recommend the Spider Sausage.

Go to Tanaris with 20 Alterac Swiss, 10 Zesty Clam Meat and 12 Giant Eggs and get Clamlette Surprise from Dirge Quikcleave and complete it. You are now an Artisan Cook.

225-250 Tender Wolf Steak (buy recipe from Dirge). You could also do Undermine Clam Chowder - it's not really fish!!

250-275 Go to Felwood and buy the recipe's for Juicy Bear Burger and Charred Bear Kabob from Malygen at Talonbranch Glade.

275-285 Unless you want to go to Dire Maul or fish up some high level fish then this is the first time you're going to have to use a yellow recipe. Carry on with the Bear recipes until 285. This will cost you about 15 Bear Flanks for 10 skill points.

285-300 Go to Cenarion Hold in Silithus and get the Desert Recipe chain of quests done, this ends up with you killing worms for Sandworm Meat. Get 15 Sandworm Meat and get to 300 on Smoked Desert Dumplings.

Go to Hellfire Peninsula and get the Master Cookbook.

.. Getting there...

... slowly ...

... post-300 cooking coming soon

(honestly)
